Summer Solstice
Each year, the Stony Sea and the Leogang Mountains light up in flames at the summer solstice.
The ancient tradition of the 12th century is closely related to St. John's Day. The St. John's fires are found in various forms throughout Europe. In Salzburg hundreds of mountain fires are lit on the mountains and form an impressive backdrop at several places. The midsummer dire is a symbol of the fire and the sun, and wards off against the storm and diseases.
